SFA announced the College of Fine Arts is now renamed the Micky Elliott College of Fine Arts after long-time Nacogdoches resident and Fine Arts supporter in early November 2021. The naming follows Bill Elliott’s eight-million-dollar donation during the Elevate SFA campaign. According to Jill Still, vice president for university advancement, Elliott wanted 100% of the funds he donated to be used for fine arts scholarships, which will allow the department to attract and recruit more students of higher quality – further enhancing the fine arts program. The scholarships will benefit any major under fine arts such as music, theatre and now dance.* *excerpt by Renee Fain, SFASU The Pine Log Managing Editor
